I am a registered psychotherapist with over a decade of experience in the field of psychology. My specializations in psychotherapy and counselling services range from providing trauma psychotherapy, to burnout prevention, to facilitating spiritual integration and mindfulness courses. Through the course of my career, I have provided counselling and psychotherapy to adults from many walks of life facing a broad scope of concerns. I have worked as a therapist within various settings including an employee assistance program, community mental health and private practice.
I sincerely believe that every person holds within themselves the necessary resources to defy the challenges of life and the means to cultivate happiness. I believe that the need for psychotherapy arises when, because of past issues or current circumstances, the felt stress is temporarily stronger than the capacity of the individual to manage it in an optimal manner. The need for psychotherapy can also be felt when the individual realises that they are not fulfilled. I believe that expressing the wish to consult a professional in psychotherapy indicates that the individual has the wisdom to recognise their limits and the courage to accept to ask for help.
I see my role as guiding you along your path towards greater well-being. I believe that therapy is a collaborative relationship towards the (re)discovery of your strengths and resources. My role is not to diagnose or pathologize, but instead to provide you with an accepting space where your experiences can be safely explored under a new light. The aim is to help you develop or better utilise the tools and knowledge necessary to resolve the problematic situations you face and to promote your fulfilment.
While my work is informed by my training in an existential-humanistic paradigm, in my approach to therapy, I integrate various theories and evidence-based orientations, namely:
Note that the choice of approach depends on the circumstances and preferences of each individual.
My approach centers on open communication and the establishment of a strong therapeutic connection. I am empathic and responsive to your needs and genuinely interested in understanding your experiences. With my active listening, my questions, and my comments, I wish to help you see more clearly the influences of your internal environment, to identify the obstacles to your fulfilment and to support you to make the choices most favourable to your personal growth and wellbeing.
As per my outlook, the creation of a strong collaborative therapeutic relationship is crucial to the therapeutic process. In my view, we are partners in the therapeutic process, each responsible for the success of the sessions. I occasionally offer concrete strategies to try out or suggestions to explore, but always leave you the freedom to take what you wish and to leave the rest. With me, you have options and you make your own choices. Ultimately, you decide what service(s) or approach(es) are most appropriate. The more you get involved in the process, the more you will benefit from the sessions.
My usual fees are of 160$ per session. A therapeutic session normally lasts 50 minutes. Unless we have a predetermined agreement, payment is to be made at the end of each session. I accept different methods of payments: cash, cheque, debit, credit card or e-transfer. You will be provided with a receipt.
In the event of a cancellation with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice, there will be no charge. For cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice, you will be required to provide full payment for the session. We will reschedule your appointment at a time that meets your earliest convenience.
Please be advised that at this time, I am unable to provide crisis services. I provide psychotherapy services to adults only (over the age of 18), on an individual basis. I do not provide family counselling nor couple’s therapy. I operate a private practice and therefore generally require a few days of notice before being able to meet with clients. During busy periods, it may take longer than usual to schedule an appointment.
